To Lend To Those Less Fortunate A Helping Hand...

We are so proud of our sister, Emily Bowie, for living by our creed in an exciting and noteworthy way.
After being crowned Miss Florida Gator, Emily went on to compete in the Miss Florida Pageant. The Miss America organization is partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a cause near and dear to the hearts of all of our sisters because Phi Mu is the only corporate sorority sponsor of CMNH. Between the pageants, Emily raised over $400 for CMNH and is continuing to support the organization by serving at Dairy Queen’s Miracle Blizzard Day in August and at the Radiothon in September. She summed up the whole experience beautifully by saying, “It’s a lot more than just wearing a crown and trying to look pretty. It’s about being a role model, someone to look up to and realizing that everyone can make a difference, even if it’s only going to DQ and buying a Blizzard.”

You can join Emily and many of our other sisters for Miracle Treat Day on August 8th at the Dairy Queen on Archer Rd. The event runs all day and a dollar or more of every treat you purchase will go towards helping local children through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals!

Sisterhood Spotlight: Brooke S.

Our ambitious president, Brooke Summerlin, is interning with Junior Achievement and Hillsborough County Public Schools for the third time this summer. She mentors high schoolers in a program called STEMTEC where students learn about emerging careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Part of the curriculum takes them on field trips to places such as Busch Gardens where they learn about the physics and engineering that goes into creating rollercoasters and other rides. Brooke even helped her students design green cars that run on solar charged batteries--check out these pictures from race day!
